The Missouri Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes will face off in the 2020 Music City Bowl. The game will take place at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Kickoff is currently scheduled for 4:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, December 30. The game will air on ESPN and will be available via live stream at WatchESPN.
The Missouri Tigers (5-4) finished the regular season on a two-game losing skid after winning three-straight. Mizzou lost 51-32 to the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday where their defense got shredded by Bulldogs quarterback Will Rogers, who completed 21-of-36 passes for 295 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Tigers quarterback Connor Bazelak completed 22-of-38 passes for 225 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. But running back Larry Rountree III had a solid effort on the ground with 121 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns. Roundtree III is a player to watch as he has 972 rushing yards on 209 carries and 14 touchdowns.
The Iowa Hawkeyes (6-2) enter the postseason on a five-game winning streak. The Hawkeyes can score more than usual, as they averaged 31.8 points per game this season. And it’s an Iowa defense, so allowing just 16.0 points per game is the brand. Iowa’s last win was on Dec. 12, a 28-7 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers. The Hawkeyes played a complete game on both sides of the ball, where quarterback Spencer Petras was 14-of-25 for 211 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Running back Tyler Goodson recorded 106 rushing yards on 11 carries and a touchdown, and the Hawkeyes defense forced Badgers quarterback Graham Mertz into an interception while holding their running game to just 56 yards.
These are two teams on an upward trajectory, which should make for a compelling game if both sides are at full health and rosters.
